a very nice new seller would like to be paid via request for cash on a recent auction I won. I asked her to consider my regular invoice would look unpaid, I believe she doesn't want her funds held & has every intention of sending my item, but I want some official ebay/paypal advice. maybe holding new seller's funds isn't a good idea if they go around it. now I am on the spot. what should I do? thanks.

You would tell her nicely that you will only pay to the PayPal account that is attached to the listing, so that you will have full PP Buyer Protection.

It is not permitted for a seller to ask for a cash payment. Read this
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/accepted-payments-policy.html

Tell the seller the only way you will pay is with PayPal.

It's not a request for cash, it's a Request Money. Again, not good for you. Tell the seller no, and to ship ASAP. The sooner you get it and are happy with it, the sooner her funds are released.

Actually, you are not on the spot at all. The seller is incorrect to ask you for cash, and cannot refuse to accept payment via paypal.

Respond as others have advised, and if the seller refuses to complete the transaction, you can report them for seller non performance. Come back if you need more help with this.

thanks all. I do feel like I'm on the spot because buying ebay stuff should be fun & it's no fun to explain the rules of the game when paypal should make the rules clear. all of the new rules should appear on the invoice as that is our contract. I'll most likely need to send a money order unless there is a rule against it. waiting to hear from seller.

I would guess they KNOW the rules. You are
putting too much stress on yourself. Just pay the invoice with paypal and let it go.The only one causing
you stress is you.

thanks but my seller has made it very clear she does not want the regular paypal payment. she was instructed to do the money request by a paypal supervisor in regards to an international transaction. her other 3 buyers are paying her as she requests. if I disregard her wishes, even if I am right, that's just making things stupider. I'm sending her a money order. I don't think stress is the right word, but a lot of head shaking is happening here.

If the auction said PayPal - had the PayPal logos
You Pay with PayPal

that's it.

There is no way to get paper money back if they don't send the Item.

>>now I am on the spot.<<

What spot are you on?

This seller is violating the rules.. if you pay using paper payment, you are violating the rules, too..

If your seller is trying to avoid the funds being held, they should have sold the item in the local paper. Ebay requires it.. The seller should know this before listing and should not be asking buyers to violate policy to get the item.

>> if I disregard her wishes, even if I am right, that's just making things stupider. I'm sending her a money order. <<

By sending a money order, the only thing stupid is you.. You have no protection when you do not pay with Paypal or a credit card.. You are encouraging this seller to violate the rules.. WHY would you want to do that?

The seller promises to ship... Doesn't everyone who list items on Ebay, promise to ship.. Yet, folks lose money daily here. That is why the Ebay created the payment hold policy.. because sellers promise to ship.. but do not!

What should you do??

REPORT the seller and look for another seller... There isn't anything selling, on Ebay, worth violating the rules for... another seller will be along with the item and not ask you to violate the rules..

Hi bruceww,

I am confused. The seller wants a

-cash advance payment through PayPal?

-they want you to pay with a PayPal balance?

-they want you to send cash in the mail?

Which one?

I'm not sure why that responder said your making this "stressful" this is stressful to have a seller slap you with something different than you are used to here, it should be the same, all the time.

Start a new thread to get more help, this one ends with my post being the 10th one.

Kathie
